I never planned on being a pastor. But God relentlessly pursued me with His grace until I gave in. Years back, I was living far from God—a reminder that continues to motivate me to help others find their way. I spent 12 years in college ministry in West Virginia, Louisiana, and North Carolina before God called me to plant a church. My family has called Raleigh home since 1998. My wife, Cinda, and I have three daughters: Molly, Abby, and Lexi.

I grew up in Danville, Virginia, where I spent the first 18 years of my life before heading off to college. I studied Music and Biblical Studies at Liberty University, following my time at Word of Life Bible Institute in Florida. During those years, I had the opportunity to travel with several bands and vocal groups, which allowed me to experience churches and ministries across the country. Those experiences played a significant role in shaping my calling to serve the local church. God has continually grown in me a passion to see His people live lives of worship — not just on stage, but in everyday life.
I met my wife, Sarah, while attending Liberty, and we were married in 2012. We now have three kids and live in Wake Forest. I love football (Go Steelers!), 90s music, cooking on my Pit Boss, and try to fit in as many family beach trips as possible. We are so thankful God placed us in this community and we look forward to what God will continue to build at Devoted City Church.

I have lived in Raleigh since 1991. Me and my wife Kim have two children, Nick and Elizabeth. I started following Jesus in 1982 but never imagined being a pastor. For 18 years I served as an IBM software engineer, loving the work and the people I did it with. Through a difficult season of healing, I grew in trusting Jesus to lead me day to day – and my mission became helping others find that same comfort and purpose. In 2005, God led me to carry that mission into leadership at Devoted City. I love introducing people to Jesus and helping them grow in their faith, no matter where they are in their journey.

God captured my heart in 2014 and began my journey into ministry in my hometown of Orlando, Florida. Along the way, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Preaching and Church Leadership from Johnson University and a Master of Divinity from Liberty University.
I joined the team at Devoted City in 2023 and have loved seeing God move in incredible ways. While serving in the local church, I also serve as a Chaplain in the Army Reserves.
I enjoy starting my day with a warm cup of coffee, traveling all over with my beautiful wife, Shelby, and our son, Dietrich, and catching as many European soccer games as possible. Shelby and I are grateful to be serving at Devoted City, and we pray that God continues His amazing work in and through DCC.

I love being a native North Carolinian, growing up in Eastern NC! I spent much of my early adult ministry life working with college students (7 years at NC State and 10 years at Mid Atlantic Christian University). I’ve had the honor of helping people find, trust, and follow Jesus at DCC since August of 2017. My lovely wife Laura and I have been married since 2015 and she serves our community as an amazing Elementary teacher. I’m a huge sports fan (GO HEELS) and we love to travel. We are big time beach people!

I grew up in Western North Carolina and moved to Raleigh to attend NC State University (go Pack!). My wife, Ashley, and I have two wonderful daughters, and we’ve called Wake Forest home since 2011.
We started attending Devoted City in 2014, and it didn’t take long for us to experience what true community looks like, as we were surrounded by people who care deeply and strive to help you grow in your faith. I began serving on a volunteer team, and over time, God began to stir something in my heart that I couldn’t ignore. After 20 years in the corporate world, He made it clear He was calling me into full-time ministry.
I love building relationships and walking alongside people through all seasons of life. I’m incredibly grateful to now serve on staff at Devoted City Church and to be part of helping people find, trust, and follow Jesus.
Our Beliefs
Grace
God's grace is available to all who call upon the Lord. No one deserves God's grace, yet he gives it freely to all who deny self and surrender to Christ.
Titus 2:11-12, Ephesians 2:8, Romans 3:23-24
Jesus
Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, who died for our sins and rose from the dead.
1 Corinthians 15:1–8; John 3:16
Salvation
Salvation is a gift from God to man. Forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who trust Christ as Savior and Lord. Those accepting Christ repent of sin, confess their faith, and are baptized into Him.
John 3:16; Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38
Mankind
Every person has worth as a creation of God, but all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under His control daily.
2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7–13; John 14:16–17; 1 Corinthians 2:12; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18
The Bible
The Bible in its entirety is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God in its original manuscripts. The original writers were and are unlike any other writers, as they were given special guidance by the Holy Spirit to write down God’s revelation of Himself to humankind. Therefore, we accept the Bible as the final authority for all matters of faith and practice.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; Proverbs 30:5; Psalm 119:105
Creation
God created the Earth and everything in it. Genesis 1:1-31, Genesis 2:1-25, Hebrews 11:3, Colossians 1:16
God created man and woman, separate genders assigned by him and made them equal in dignity, value, and worth as image bearers of him. Genesis 1:27, Genesis 2:7, Isaiah 45:12
By God's design, life begins at conception, an unborn baby is an image bearer of our Holy God. Psalm 51:5-6; 139:13-16, Isaiah 49:1, Jeremiah 1:5, Luke 1:15
God created marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman, and created sex only for married couples. Genesis 2:18-25, Galatians 5:16-24
The Church
The Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and is obligated to share Christ in a relevant way with those who do not know Him, serve the helpless, and give hope to the hopeless.
Ephesians 4:1–16; James 1:26–27
Eternity
Jesus Christ will one day return to earth and reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Man was created to exist forever. He will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.
1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; John 3:16; 1 John 2:25; 1 John 5:11–13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15
