A Way to Pray
On June 28 & 29 2025, our church held prayer services. We spent the entire service praying. Praying for our city, praying for our families, praying in adoration & thanksgiving for who God is and what He’s done.
This service was a response to our church wide study through the book of Acts – just as we saw the early church be devoted to prayer, we are devoted to prayer.
God is moving in the life of our church. Prayer is powerful! Keep reading for a way to pray daily – an acrostic that served as the framework for our prayer services: ACTS. (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Seeking)
Adoration
Prayers of adoration worship God for who He is – His character, glory, and majesty.
Scriptures to read before you pray:
- Psalm 145:3 – Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.
- Revelation 4:11 – You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.
- Isaiah 6:3 – Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of His glory.
Confession
Prayers of confession bring us before God to acknowledge our sins and seek God’s mercy.
Scriptures to read before you pray:
- 1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
- Psalm 51:1-2 – Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love…Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.
- Proverbs 28:13 – Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
Thanksgiving
Prayers of thanksgiving simply thank God for His blessings, grace, and provision.
Because forgiven people are grateful people. The cross doesn’t just cleanse us – it compels us. We give prayers of thanks because Jesus gave everything, and now we give Him our thanks, our praise, and our lives.
Scriptures to read before you pray:
- 1 Thessalonians 5:18 – Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
- Psalm 100:4 – Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.
- Philippians 4:6 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Seeking
Seeking prayers means we can bring our needs and the needs of others before God. Our Father wants to hear the needs, hopes, and wants of His children.
Scriptures to read before you pray:
- Matthew 7:7 – Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
- 1 Timothy 2:1 – I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people.
- Hebrews 4:16 – Let us them approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
